If you like waterfalls this is a must see.  Very easy well maintained trail

Quick hike straight up and back down on the Columbia in the Gorge

Absolutely beautiful hike (Long)

Hamilton Mountain
1-5 miles each way if you make it to the top it's a GREAT cardio workout

Moulton Falls
(Flat nature walk 5 miles round trip)

Places to stay before/after the conference.  
Our advice is get a hotel that isn't in downtown Portland.  It's just not as safe as it used to be.  

Areas to stay before/after the conference

Downtown Vancouver, Washington is becoming super trendy and has lots of hotels and great restaurants and is much safer than Portland and it's right on the Columbia River with great views and a fun vibe.   

Clackamas is a super safe/family area with great shopping.

There are wonderful vineyards to visit in the Willamette Valley.
